Our Smart Survey Criteria

Ratings have been applied based on our smart transport criteria:

Smart Transport:

  • is integrated, universally accessible, and not private car dependent,
  • will be viable now and in the future, and less dependent on overseas resources,
  • is affordable for governments and individuals,
  • will enable resilient communities and individual independence,
  • supports good public health, particularly in terms of obesity and air pollution,
  • is environmentally sustainable, reducing our carbon footprint,
  • includes institutional goals for mode shift, with achievable medium term benefits.

The above policies were found on National, Labour, Green, United Future, NZ First and Act’s website. Policy summaries are direct quotes. Certain parties have limited coverage of transport policies and our ratings are based on the information we could find. No transport policies were found for Mana, Maori or the Conservative party. Please let us know if you have more information. We highly encourage you to also do your own research, and share the results. Consequently this assessment may change.
